Who are we?
We’re the first NHS trust on the English mainland to provide community, mental health and acute hospital services. At Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we work with partners across our county to ensure we deliver outstanding services and meet the needs of our population. We were formed in 2020 following the merger of two NHS Foundation Trusts, and we’re now preparing to merge with the Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (YDH), too.
Through these mergers, and our partnerships within the SWPC, we’re able to make our services more consistent and accessible. We have over 9,000 colleagues who deliver or support our patient services. They work in a huge array of roles, from nurses to therapists, doctors, researchers, scientists, porters, cleaners, kitchen staff, accountants, receptionists, and more.
Our vision is to be an organisation that gets it right for our patients, carers, colleagues and communities through an inclusive culture of partnership, learning and continuous improvement.
Where are we?
We offer a wide range of services, including Somerset’s Rapid Response service which cares for patients in their homes during periods of crisis. Additionally, we have 13 community hospitals offering 190 inpatient beds, outpatient and diagnostic services, and 7 Minor Injuries Units. We also have Wessex House in Bridgwater where we provide inpatient care for young people, and Ash Ward is our 12-bed, low secure inpatient rehabilitation and recovery unit for male adults with mental health difficulties.
