An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Community Mental Health Service to work within our Community Mental Health Team, based in Bridgwater. We are looking for an enthusiastic practitioner who is keen to be part of the exciting transformation of Mental Health Services in Somerset, in particular to participate in the facilitation of clinics running in Bridgwater, including clozapine, depot and physical wellbeing.

Our team respond rapidly to the needs of adults needing mental health advice and support. The team is established, supportive, knowledgeable and above all passionate about what they do!

As part of our Community Mental Health Team, you can take part (or not) in team days/nights out, sweep stakes and 'secret Santa', as well as other activities!!

Main duties of the job

To provide healthcare to patients as delegated by the Registered Nurse. The role will involve promoting mental and physical health and wellbeing for patients with severe and enduring mental health difficulties.

To work as part of a team, delivering health care that focus on the direct needs of the patient

To work autonomously within the clearly defined boundaries of their role and carry out specific clinical tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the registered nurse

To provide planned nursing care and treatment to patients in the community as assessed by the registered nurse

To undertake a range of clinical activities for which you have been trained and assessed as competent to undertake, including:

- Phlebotomy

- Depot administration

- Clozapine monitoring

- Physical observations, including ECG

Essential

  • Foundation degree in health care or Higher National Diploma in health care ie at Level 5 of the Regulated Qualification Framework
  • Registered Nurse Associate on the NMC register
  • Competency in the core skills for this post

Experience

Essential

  • - Experience of working with patients with severe and enduring mental health difficulties
  • - Relevant knowledge of the relationship between physical and emotional ill-health
  • - Provision and promotion of holistic person centred care and support, duty of care and safeguarding of individuals
  • - An understanding of emotional and physical impact of mental illness/disability on an individual, their family/carers
  • - Relevant experience of working with patients and families from a range of cultures and backgrounds
  • - Relevant experience of working self-directed and as part of a team
  • - Confident using the computer to send and receive emails, open attached documents and to access and enter data in patient records
  • - Demonstrates an insight to the Scope of the Nursing Associate role as part of the multi-disciplinary team and Trust and how role will contribute to the development of our services
  • - Expanded scope of practice skills relevant to the clinical area e.g. venepuncture, cannulation
