Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at a time when the community eating disorder provision across Devon is developing and evolving. Integrating physical and psychiatric care for patients with eating disorders is essential in managing the complexity of their needs.
The Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS) is a multi-professional team. Each patient has a named clinician who supports them with their psychological health and wellbeing.
This post will manage a defined caseload of patients, with support and guidance from other MDT members. The post holders caseload will grow in both number and complexity as they develop in the role this will be reviewed regularly via clinical supervision.
The post holder will deliver high quality mental health assessment for the less severe/complex cases and treatment to individuals with an eating disorder as per NICE guidelines and following agreed integrate care pathways.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the skills needed for safe clinical decision making. They will be self-motivated and compassionate who, acting within their professional boundaries, will provide care to patients with eating disorders.
The team are happy to support a preceptee nurse in this role or other allied health professionals ideally with some mental health experience
Main duties of the job
Be a core member of the CEDS multi-disciplinary team, liaising with other members of the team to provide integrated care
Work collaboratively with all members of the CEDS team and share information with team members formally and informally, e.g. clinical reviews, risk meetings
Actively promote relationships with colleagues that support open communication and collaborative working, taking personal responsibility for one's contribution to the process of multidisciplinary working
To maintain accurate and complete records recording appropriate events and observations in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures and professional code of conduct
Participate as required in service team meetings and discussions
Offer brief psychological interventions in line with evidence based treatment for eating disorders and support the development of personalised treatment packages in line with evidence base. Where necessary, ensure that consultation with senior colleagues is undertaken
Undertake the more straight forward/less complex assessments of people with eating disorders, including risk assessments, and determine the appropriate course of action which has taken into consideration a range of possible options.
- Where required, participate in meetings including professional and risk meetings and have the ability to acknowledge when more senior colleagues are need to attend alongside them.

Essential
- An appropriate up to date professional mental health qualification or allied health professional qualification e.g RMN, OT or social worker on the appropriate professional body register and hold current registration with no restrictions
- It will be an essential requirement for newly qualified social workers to demonstrate that they have completed The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) before commencing in post or there will be a requirement to complete this within the first 12 months of employment with the Trust.
- Evidence of, or a willingness to, engage in relevant continuing professional development
- Training to Level 3 in Adult and Children Safeguarding
