Occupational Therapist
Priory Hospital Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory Group and has 77 beds over seven wards including Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, PICU, Rehabilitation and Recovery, Addiction treatment and general psychiatry.
We are looking to employ an enthusiastic occupational therapist to work within our rehabilitation and recovery service, supporting the needs of individuals with a range of mental health conditions and neurocognitive disorders. Half the ward consists of service users with a range of mental health conditions and is focused on providing effective rehabilitation to support transition back into the community. The other half of the ward consists of service users with neurocognitive disorders and focuses on maintaining occupational performance and improving quality of life.
The role will involve completing assessments, developing and implementing person-centered care plans, facilitating group and 1:1 work, assessment and review of moving and handling equipment, including hoists/slings and contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings. You will be working alongside two occupational therapy assistants and may be required to provide supervision to other occupational therapy staff.
Although you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, comprising of nurses, healthcare assistants, psychiatrist, specialty doctor, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist and fitness instructor, a large part of the role will also involve autonomous working. You will be expected to apply your occupational therapy skills, complete thorough risk assessments and use evidence-practice to guide your therapeutic interventions.
Previous experience working in mental health and/or neurocognitive settings, excellent communication skills and a commitment to team working is essential for this post.
The post holder must also be HCPC registered.
